Public lecture Beth A. Katz on Trump, immigration and inclusion
Beth A. Katz will share key findings from her original research regarding how the first Trump Administration rapidly and profoundly transformed the US immigration environment and the effects that this had on US-based immigrant inclusion practitioners and their efforts.
She also will discuss how the second Trump Administration may build on its previous immigration approach and tactics. These findings are part of her doctoral research which investigated how efforts to promote the inclusion of immigrants in the UK and the US were impacted by their national governments’ harsh immigration approaches in the Brexit and Trump eras. The study surveyed immigrant inclusion practitioners, those working in a variety of contexts to welcome and include immigrants, who were operating in both countries during these time periods and examined their responses alongside historical documents and other relevant research to better understand this impact.
Beth A. Katz is Master of Public Policy, Master of Social Work, PhD candidate in Politics and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh, and social inclusion consultant and practitioner.
